Marvel Studio’s Falcon & Winter Soldier series will air on Disney’s new streaming site, Disney+. We have known of the project for some time and received little bits of casting and crew announcements. Today, The Wrap is reporting that writter and creator of the box office hit John Wick, Derek Kolstad, have been tapped to join the writing team for Disney +‘s Falcon and Winter Soldier.

Falcon & Winter Soldier is a limited television series starring Marvel actors Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan. Both will reprise their respective roles as Sam Wilson/Falcon and Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier.

The series will most likely pick up after Steve Rogers handed the shield to Sam in the aftermath of the events of Avengers: Endgame. In the movie, we see old man Steve gave his Captain America shield to Sam, and not to his best friend Bucky. Whether the plot will follow the original source material or not is not yet revealed.

The six-part miniseries will be directed by Kari Skogland and is set to release in August 2020. Other cast reprising their roles in the show includes Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter and Daniel Bruhl as Helmut Zemo.

Derek Kolstad will be joining the creative team as writer. He is known for the critically-acclaimed action movie John Wick 3: Parabellum which grossed over $311 million worldwide. Recently, Kolstad pitched his idea for the movie Booker to Sony and video game adaptation called Just Cause to Constantin films.

Marvel’s president Kevin Feige stated, “These will be major storylines, set within the MCU, with ramifications that will be felt both through the other Disney+ series we’re producing and our features on the big screen.”

He also added that the post-Endgame MCU events that will be featured in the upcoming roster of Marvel series on Disney+ will be different and would stand on its own. Disney+ is reportedly set to launch on November 12.
